Welcome to The City of London - Malta's oldest and most popular bar

The City of London

A Glorious Heritage

Few other places can summon such an immediate atmosphere of unparalled charm, friendliness and a place of well-being.

Opened in 1914 by an enterprising young man by the name of Karmnu Borg, known as il-Fossa, The City of London still retains that personal touch that few pubs can offer.

The public house, on the prominent St. Julian's Seafront, has been refurbished from time to time but the character of an English style pub still remains.

What a year! .... Thank you all!

by JOHNC January 23, 2011 06:27

As a special bonus, there is a new image gallery of our celebrations over Christmas, New Year and a little beyond....

It is wonderful to see everyone having such a great time - laughing, smiling and enjoying themselves!

This is part of what makes "The City" great ... a place to meet, have fun and enjoy your friends.

Let us all enjoy many more!

The City welcomes 2011

Julian's New Year Message

by JOHNC January 01, 2011 03:16

As 2010 closes, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year.

As usual, the past year had its ups and downs, the making of new friends and the sad loss of others but “The City” keeps going strong and our loyal group of regular customers always try to ensure that help and support is given where needed and to welcome new arrivals into the fold. It is these things that make me proud when I say that The City is among Malta’s most popular bars.

Now is the time to look forward and I wish you all health, happiness and prosperity for the coming year.

With Best Wises,

Julian

Julian says "ARMS UP" to Malta's Prime Minister

by JOHNC November 08, 2010 07:50

Julian "Paxton" Borg on XarabankLast Friday, our very own Julian Borg appeared on Malta's most popular news and political comment television programme "Xarabank".

Xarabank is enormously popular in Malta - this particular programme was very much in the style of the BBC UK "Question Time" with both the Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Lawrence Gonzi and the Leader of the Opposition Dr. Joseph Muscat facing questions (and some criticism) from the audience.

Our hero questioned the Prime Minister directly about the sad state of the new ARMS company - whose function is to collect payment for our electricity and water bills - but since it's inception has proved to be very inefficient and prone to making many mistakes .. Prime Minister Gonzi assured Julian it will get better "soon" - but only time will tell!

Dr. Lawrence Gonzi, Prime Minister of Malta

You can see Julian "in action" yourself by visiting www.di-ve.com who can stream a copy of the entire program directly to your computer. For those that are impatient, Julian and Dr. Gonzi's response appears at 1h:51m:30s  - 1h:55m:35s

So .. could this be a new direction for Julian "Paxman" Borg?
